Redevelopment of the former RNZAF Base at Hobsonville Point is a flagship project for the New Zealand Government and Auckland Council in their bid to address the chronic housing shortage in the Auckland region. The master-planned development, including the Scotts Point area, is approximately 300ha, and will provide close to 5,000 dwellings, schools and commercial developments and new light industry areas.
Hobsonville Point Development
While the vision for the development has been collectively set by the Hobsonville Land Company (HLC) and the Scotts Point Land Owners Group (who are responsible for master planning and provision of bulk infrastructure); individual precincts are being developed by private developers.
As the first project approved under the Special Housing Area (SHA) legislation, Hobsonville Point is subject to a fast-tracked planning process. Consequently, the project requires timely and high quality work from all designers and builders so that titles to the lots and houses are delivered as quickly as possible.
Our team is helping to meet the needs of all project participants through a collaborative and client-focused approach. After being initially engaged by HLC, our team is also a trusted advisor to five private developers, as well as two construction contractors.
With all aspects of the project viewed as equally important – from infrastructure, streetscapes and landscaping, to architecture and interiors – collaboration has been essential in achieving the master planned vision. Our team’s experience in land development has enabled us to predict and mitigate issues before they become project obstacles, and to capture and share this knowledge with the other parties developing new precinct areas.
